In preparation for Red Ribbon Week, the fourth grade students listened to a presentation about tobacco. A medical student from the medical university in Omaha gave the presentation. She had students actively participate and kept them engaged when discussing the effects of smoking.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week. We will focus on a theme each day.

TUESDAY : "round up on drugs"

We have been studying plant and animal life in science. We made terrariums in class yesterday. It was a dirty job, but we had fun doing it! One student brought his own cactus to plant in his terrarium. Students brought twigs, leaves, rocks, and worms, too. The students planted grass seed in their terrariums. We discussed how important it is to keep the soil moist and to make sure the worms has something to eat.
