The "Y" rule

The students are practicing their phonics skills. Today we reviewed the "Y" rule: change the y at the end of the base word to an "I" before adding a suffix. Next week we will learn that the exception to the rule is when the suffix begins with an "I" you keep the "y".

Have you heard of Little Miss Sure Shot? I bet you have heard about Annie Oakley! The third and fourth graders listened to a presentation by Charlotte Endorff. She enlightened the students about the life and times of Annie Oakley.

Read Across America

College students from CSC visited our classroom on Friday and read to us. The students then had a chance to ask them about college life.
