After a fun year of learning about our wonderful state of Nebraska, the students wrapped up the year with a Nebraska Program. Each student chose a famous Nebraskan, wrote a report about his/her character, and then portrayed the character in front of family and friends. The students also learned the song, "Beautiful Nebraska", played songs on a recorder, and did a dance from pioneer days. It was a fun-filled learning experience for all!
This year our school had a contest to see who would get to attend the technology(NETA) conference. Each contestant had to create a 1-2 minute video and then post it on you tube. With a little artistic help from my students, I was chosen as one of the four winners! I was so excited. It amazes me how fast technology is changing and advancing. It is true, now is the time to be BOLD and NOT OLD! Check out a youtube video that one of the keynote speakers made when he was a teenager. It is scary and yet exciting to think how education will change in the next few years.
The fourth graders learned about perspective this week. We were excited to have Whitney from Ta-da! Art Studio to teach an art lesson. The students drew the Nebraska State Capitol during the lesson. They were all amazed at what artists they became!
